Job Description

Manufacturing Accountant - 60K-75K DOEResponsible for performing cost accounting, managing accounts payable functions, preparing journal entrires and reconciliations, and providing financial and operational reporting to support the company's manufacturing operations.  Will work closely with operations, supply chain, and production teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and compliance with accounting standards.  Reports directly to the Controller.  Safety Sensitive role.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform cost accounting functions including product costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis to support accurate financial reporting and decision-making.
  2. Prepare and maintain journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
  3. Analyze manufacturing costs, margins, and variances; provide insights and recommendations to management for process and cost improvements.
  4. Generate financial and operational reports to support management and departmental decision-making.
  5. Assist with budgeting and forecasting related to production, inventory, and cost allocation.
  6. Collaborate with production, supply chain, and operations staff to ensure accurate cost reporting and inventory controls.
  7. Accounts payable (AP) including invoice coding, review, and posting in compliance with company policies.
  8. Provide documentation and analysis for audits, both internal and external.
  9. Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls in all accounting functions.
  10. Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned to support the department.

Education, Experience, and Work Environment
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  2. 2–4 years of accounting experience, with a focus on cost accounting in manufacturing.
  3. Experience in the energy equipment industry preferred.
  4. Proficiency in SAP, Oracle NetSuite, or similar ERP/accounting systems.
  5. Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
  6. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
  7. Experience with Power Query and SQL
  8. Standard office environment with frequent computer use and cross-department interaction.
  9. Occasional visits to the manufacturing floor may be required to collaborate with operations staff and review costing data.

  3. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  4. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Ability to collaborate across departments and present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  6. Strong organizational skills and initiative.

Physical and Mental Requirements
  1. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  2. Must occasionally lift up to 15 pounds (files, binders, office supplies).
  3. Ability to analyze complex data, interpret financial results, and provide clear recommendations.
  4. Requires focus and concentration to maintain accuracy and meet deadlines.
  5. Effective communication skills for presenting financial and operational data.
  6. May require extended hours during month-end close, year-end close, or special projects.
