Controls Technician

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced professional to join a company that designs, manufactures, and installs robotic systems for industrial manufacturing applications within the aerospace industry. Our technology supports the direct manufacturing and maintenance of aerospace structures. We take pride in our dynamic, collaborative, and highly skilled engineering team and are looking for individuals who are passionate about developing innovative solutions to solve complex customer challenges.We are currently hiring a Contract-to-Hire Electrical Technician to build, install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain robotic equipment and automated production systems. This role involves diagnosing and repairing robots and peripheral equipment, including circuit boards, sensors, controllers, encoders, and servomotors. The anticipated contract period is 60–90 days, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a full-time position.Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot robotic systems using knowledge of microprocessors, programmable controllers, electronics, circuit analysis, mechanics, sensor and feedback systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
  • Install wiring, software programs, robot controllers, end-of-arm tooling, and related equipment
  • Perform complete electrical builds of robotic systems and validate functionality to ensure all systems meet quality, safety, and compliance standards before shipment
  • Conduct final electrical inspections and diagnostics on wiring harnesses, sensors, motors, and other critical components
  • Identify and resolve electrical issues by interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications
  • Maintain detailed service records, including test results, repairs, and system modifications
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on robotic systems and components
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to improve product designs and streamline testing processes
  • Align, fit, and assemble wire harnesses using hand tools, soldering tools, fixtures, and measurement equipment
Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in an Electrical Technician or similar role
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and schematics
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime as needed
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident status required
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to repeatedly lift to 30 lbs to waist height throughout the workday
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience working with robotic systems
  • Familiarity with electrical safety and compliance standards, including IPC and MIL-STD requirements
  • Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical systems
  • Experience assembling and troubleshooting automation systems
  • Experience operating industrial robots, including Fanuc and Yaskawa models
  • Experience wiring electrical systems and control cabinets to drawing standards
  • Familiarity with shop tools and standard safety procedures
  • Current IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification preferred
  • Experience with offline robot programming
  • HMI and PLC programming experience
  • Knowledge of fieldbus networks, serial communication, and Ethernet communication
  • Exposure to industrial production machinery, sensors, and power systems, including computer vision systems, laser distance sensors, servo drives, and feedback devices
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and proactively identify resources needed to complete tasks
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
