Brake Press Helper - Structure Department weekend shift
Job Description
Plasma Table Helper assists with metal fabrication by loading/unloading steel plates, operating cranes, cleaning, and prepping materials for CNC plasma cutters. They perform grinding and deburring on cut parts to ensure quality, maintain a safe work area, and often assist with torch head replacements and basic machine maintenance. Key Responsibilities
- Material Handling: Load and unload heavy metal sheets (up to 50–60 lbs) onto the table, often using overhead cranes or forklifts.
- Part Finishing: Use grinders and hand tools to remove burrs and clean finished parts.
- Machine Support: Assist in setting up the CNC plasma machine, replacing torch heads, and performing routine preventative maintenance.
- Preparation: Organize raw materials, remove "scraps" or "drops," and stage finished materials for the next department.
- Safety & Logistics: Maintain a clean workspace, follow safety protocols, and read blueprints or work orders.
- Requirements
- Physical Ability: Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50-60 lbs.
- Skills: Basic math skills, ability to read a tape measure to 1/16”, and familiarity with hand tools.
- Experience: Previous manufacturing or grinding experience is preferred, but many roles offer training to motivated, mechanically inclined individuals.
