Job Description

Job Title: Cylindrical Grinder Operator 1st & 2nd ShiftJob Summary:We are seeking a skilled Cylindrical Grinder Operator to set up and operate cylindrical grinding machines to grind external and internal cylindrical surfaces of metal workpieces to blueprint specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience with precision measurements, machine setup, and working in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and operate cylindrical grinding machines to grind metal components to specified dimensions and finishes.
  • Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) requirements.
  • Select appropriate grinding wheels, speeds, feeds, and fixtures based on the material and part geometry.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials onto machines.
  • Monitor machine operations and make adjustments to maintain proper tolerances and surface finishes.
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and bore gauges.
  • Maintain proper documentation of work performed, including inspection results and production records.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and ensure work area is clean and safe.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues with machines, tools, or materials.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in machining or manufacturing preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience operating cylindrical grinding machines (manual or CNC).
  • Strong understanding of grinding operations, materials, and surface finishes.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools and quality control processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and physical strength to lift and maneuver workpieces (up to 50 lbs, or as required).
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
There are 1st and 2nd shifts available, and this is a temp-to-perm opportunity
