Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to support the safe and efficient operation of equipment. This position focuses on maintaining, repairing, and optimizing mechanical systems such as shredders, conveyors, and separation units. The ideal candidate will also be familiar with safety protocols related to hazardous materials and industrial machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform mechanical maintenance, repairs, and adjustments on recycling equipment, including shredders, crushers, conveyors, and sorting systems.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
• Assist in diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues using tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Support basic troubleshooting of electrical components such as motors, sensors, and control panels (in collaboration with electricians or technicians).
• Safely handle and work around lithium-ion batteries and battery components, following proper procedures.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, maintenance manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and parts usage.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience in battery recycling, waste management, or materials processing industries.
• Forklift or heavy equipment operation certification.
• Welding or fabrication experience.
• Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and safety compliance standards.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in mechanical maintenance or industrial equipment preferred.
• 5+ years of experience as an industrial or mechanical maintenance technician.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems: bearings, belts, hydraulics, gearboxes, and rotating equipment.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems is a plus.
• Experience working in hazardous or heavy industrial environments is preferred.
• Ability to follow safety and environmental protocols, especially related to hazardous materials.
• Highly organized.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Willingness to work unplanned overtime, including weekends.
• Willingness to work shift work to include nights.
