Material Handler
Job Description
The production material handler operates a forklift to ensure production lines are stocked with materials. Production material handlers are also responsible for ensuring parts and materials are staged as necessary, moving material around the shop to ensure proper product flow, maintaining housekeeping of the production area, keeping trash emptied, and rotating material by production dates. Production material handlers are responsible for working in a SAFE manner according to the policies and procedures listed in the employee handbook. Production Material Handlers are involved in company programs that highlight safety improvements, new procedures, and new/different use of tools and equipment to improve quality and efficiency.
Job Duties:
Production Material Handlers are responsible for reading and understanding the following documentation:
• Standard Operating Procedures
• Job Hazard Analysis
• Shop Floor Orders
• Backlog /Schedule
• Job Aids
Production Material Handlers are responsible for the following:
• Follow all procedures and shop floors to ensure a QUALITY product
• Inform their supervisor of any shortages and possible substitutions
• Follow schedules and ensure that schedules are completed on time and correctly
• Ensure the production line has the correct parts/materials to maintain product flow
• Inform the supervisor/group leader of any problems or quality defects
• Maintain a clean work area
• Work within and promote a TEAM atmosphere among co-workers
• Perform other tasks or duties as assigned
Requirements:
• Must be certified to operate a forklift
• Production material handlers must be safety conscious, detail-oriented, and have the ability to work well with others in a team environment
• Must possess a good work ethic, and be adaptable to a fast-paced work environment
• Must have the flexibility to work overtime
• Must be able to lift to 55 lbs.
• Good communication skills
Shift is from 6:00 am – 2:30 pm (but often later with OT), Monday – Friday (and pretty regular OT on Saturdays)
$20.25 an hour Temp to Hire!
