Material Handler

Job Description

6am-2:30pm Monday - Friday.  Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends, or holidays, to support production requirements.
Summary of Duties:
  • Monitor the manufacturing schedule, and jobs at all assigned machines or work stations, as well as the next job staging areas, and make sure parts are moved to the appropriate location as needed, so machines are not waiting on material, and all of the staging positions are full, if there are enough jobs available. This is your primary responsibility, and should not require a request from your supervisor to insure it happens.
  • Constantly check all of the assigned machines for the status of their jobs, when they will be needing the next job, and provide timely updates to your supervisor if you cannot accomplish these goals. These routine checks will also provide the information needed for the schedule updates.
  • Update the machine schedule with the current job running, the next job planned, and possibly one or two jobs to follow.
  •  Need to be licensed forklift driver, and drive/work in a safe manner.
  • Provide training for new department members as required.
  • Thorough understanding of machine schedule, routings/work orders, machines or areas supported, and proper completion of required paperwork.
  • Frequently handles and lifts material ranging from 5 to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.  Any loads over 50 pounds, or more than you can safely handle, MUST be done with the help of another employee, a forklift, or with a crane.
 Education/Training/Experience:
  • Prefer high school diploma or GED.
