Industrial Painter Assistant
Job Description
Purpose of Position: Prepares parts for painting. This is accomplished by sanding, filling, grinding,
buffing and masking of parts. Applies primer coat. Ensure that all equipment associated with this process
is maintained and kept in a safe and clean condition. Complete all work assigned accurately and in a
timely manner.
Essential Job Functions
Pull and verify material before cleaning, masking and painting.
Properly and safely set up equipment to process orders.
Verify product meets requirements per work order instructions.
Identify areas that will require surface finishing.
Identify and fill surface finish blemishes.
Mix primer for application.
Properly apply primer to the material with minimal defects.
Help troubleshoot paint related issues.
Provide feedback on paint problems and material shortages.
Perform required paint booth and paint equipment maintenance and clean-up.
Complete all job responsibilities in a safe manner following all PPE (personal protective
equipment) requirements.
Participate, support, and comply with all Health, Safety, Quality and Lean initiatives and
requirements.
Communicate with coworkers and management in a professional manner.
Demonstrate good work habits (being on time, staying focused on job during work hours,
high concern for quality and productivity).
Job Requirements
H. S. Diploma or equivalent
High concern for quality
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Ability and willingness to work overtime when needed
Paint shop or automotive body shop experience and/or exposure
Ability to read and understand simple part drawings
Meticulous attention to detail
Strong work ethic
Strong teamwork skills
Clean work areas.
Must carefully follow all guidelines for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous
chemicals and waste.
Qualifications:
Experience in automotive or industrial equipment painting
Experience wet painting using a spray-gun
Experience with automated wet spray paint line for steel components
Ability to differentiate between colors
Ability to work on multiple priorities with frequent interruptions
Ability to use hand and power tools and equipment
Ability to apply correct paint millage to metal surfaces.
Physically able to perform tasks which include stooping, bending and squatting for extended
periods and able to lift 50 lbs. on a consistent basis
Various surface preparation specifications and the required quality control measures to ensure
results
Dependable
Attention to detail necessary to adhere to quality standards
Understanding of work area safety and personal protection
