Shop Helper
Job Description
Schedule: Day ShiftJob Description: A General Shop Helper provides essential support to production lines, machine operators, and assemblers. This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring a smooth, safe, and efficient manufacturing process. Key Responsibilities
- Material Handling: Loading and unloading raw materials (glass, vinyl, wood, aluminum) and moving finished units to shipping or storage areas.
- Production Assistance: Supporting machine operators by loading machines, prepping parts for assembly, and performing tasks like drilling, milling, punching, or cutting materials.
- Assembly Support: Assisting with the assembly, including installing hardware.
- Finishing Tasks: Operating equipment to grind, buff, polish, or remove excess material/burrs from metal or plastic components.
- Shop Maintenance: Cleaning and organizing work areas, maintaining equipment, and disposing of waste to keep the shop floor safe.
- Quality Control: Assisting in inspecting parts to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, bend, and lift materials often weighing up to 50–75 lbs.
- Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with hand tools and power tools.
- Measurement Skills: Proficiency in reading a tape measure, sometimes down to 1/64th of an inch.
- Dependability: Strong attendance and a strict adherence to safety regulations.
- Experience: Prior experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting is preferred but not required.
- Shifts: Frequently involves 8–12 hour shifts, with opportunities for overtime.
