Job Description

Summary/Objectives: The function of the LTL Clerk, under appropriate supervision, is to accurately pick and stage products to complete orders in a timely manner using desktop computer, appropriately pack poles and similar items for shipment and prepare bills of lading for pickup.  LTL Clerks should maintain high productivity and excellent quality.  LTL Clerks should understand the function and relationship of their activity/department to other parts of the Company, and strive to obtain cooperation and understanding with all other groups/departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
1.    Pick/Organize/Move parts through production areas according to policy and procedures.
2.    In an accurate and timely manner, measure, weigh, count and record shipping details and verify shipping unit quantities.
3.    Follow work instructions to pick and record required serial numbers and quantities.
4.    Complete Net Suite (ERP system) picking and shipping functions to ensure flow through production and update system critical data information.  
5.    Use material moving equipment such as carts, pallet jacks to deliver or route products and materials to appropriate locations.  
6.    Utilize chop saw, pneumatic nail gun, and bander to palletize poles and similar items for shipment.
7.    Reads shipping notes or follows oral instructions to ascertain correct shipping freight terms and carrier.
8.    Notify appropriate individuals of inventory issues (overages, shortages, substitutions).
9.    Communicate information to customer brokers and Pelco Sales regarding packed shipments.
10.    Communicate with dispatchers and drivers to ensure freight is picked up in a timely manner
11.    Provide required shipping information to Logistics Supervisor and/or Shipping Supervisor for freight quotes.
12.    Communicate with Logistics Supervisor and Shipping Supervisor regarding special shipping requirements (i.e. flatbed or volume loads).
13.    Print customs paperwork or obtain from Logistics Supervisor as needed for export shipments.  
14.    Ensure all pieces are accurately documented on the bill of lading and that all pieces are loaded on the correct carrier.  Perform piece count verification on dropped trailers before the trailer departs.
15.    Assist Shipping Supervisor in investigations of overage/shortage reported by carriers.
16.    Maintain organized pole storage area.
17.    Support all company policies, procedures, safety rules and principals of Lean Manufacturing/5S.
18.    Be available as required by customer demand to work additional time (overtime) throughout the year.
19.    Perform other related duties as assigned by the Team Lead or Supervisor.

Education and/or Experience:    
Required:  1 year work experience preferably in warehouse/production environment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.  

Preferred:  2+ year’s work experience preferably in warehouse/production environment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

•    Standing and walking for long periods of time.  Occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
•    Lifting up to 40lbs unassisted and occasionally lift and/or move heavier items utilizing a team lift.
•    Repetitive use of hands/motion and have manual dexterity, finger dexterity, and multi-limb coordination.
•    Use of appropriate personal protective equipment, including but not limited to safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, hearing protection, respirator mask, coveralls.
•    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to airborne contaminants, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Work environment is not climate-controlled.  The noise level may exceed permissible exposure limit and hearing protection may be required.  Fumes, odors, dust and dirt.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full-Time. Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 5:00AM – 3:30PM. Work schedule is subject to change.  May require overtime based on business needs.
